In recent years, several Iranian academics have been
assassinated in attacks attributed to Israeli and Western intelligence
agencies. While there are speculations that these men were all involved in the
Iranian nuclear energy program, an examination of their backgrounds suggests
otherwise. Three of the victims were university professors, while one had
merely organizational links with the Iranian nuclear energy program. The aim of
these assassinations, which had no effect on the Iranian nuclear energy
program, thus appears dubious. Below are brief biographies of the assassinated
scientists and summaries of the circumstances of their killings.
